5 Tips to help you prepare for your travel to the UK
Congratulations on being admitted to one of the great UK education institutions from all of us at GoBritanya! You’re one step closer to fulfilling your dream of studying abroad and now it’s the time to get prepared to travel!
We understand this could be stressful especially if you are travelling abroad for the first time. Don’t worry, we are here to assist by providing a plan you can follow that should help make your life just a little bit easier!
1. Plan your budget.
This could be the very first time you are taking charge of your personal finances and starting a new adventure in a foreign city away from your home all by yourself. So, it is important to have a plan for your budget. You can look at your it either on a monthly, weekly or daily basis. For example, list how much you would like to spend on your groceries every week, as well as how much you want to spend on your nights out. Once you have planned your budget, try to stick to it and remember to not beat yourself up if you spend a bit more once in a while.
2. Pack the right stuff.
Carrying a big and heavy luggage will be exhausting especially if you are travelling alone. You don’t want to overpack and find out some items are not necessary after your arrival (It happened to all of us!). So pack the right stuff and make your life and journey easier (and save money by not paying the overweight luggage charge). There are plenty of good quality/ good price shops in the UK, you might also find items that are cheaper here than back home (again, it happened to all of us). 3. Get yourself an international call/data plan.
Data is always crucial to keep you in touch with your family and friends. You may want to send messages to your family to let them know you have arrived safely or you may want to scroll up and down Instagram to kill time while you are on your way to your accommodation. So, make sure you get yourself an international data plan to cover at least the first few days of your arrival before you choose a local UK data SIM plan.
4. Prepare sufficient cash.
If you don’t have a credit card, you may need to prepare some cash. You can only set up a UK bank account after you receive the bank letter from your university. Therefore, some cash would be needed to cover expenses in the meantime.
5. Book an airport transfer.
